McHales of Cum Lahardane
QUINNS OF CUILNAKILLEW COUNTY MAYO IRELAND
AND
AVOCA LUZERNE COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA
USA
James Quinn (Quin) and Bridget McHale married 7/26/1869 at the Addergoole Parish church- The witnesses were Thomas McHale and Catherine McNalty. The bride's townland is shown as Cuilnakilla, Addergoole Parish, County Mayo.

A Catherine McNalty was witness to the marriage of Wiliam McHale and Honor McHale in WilkesBarre, 1886.  According to my Uncle William Gilroy Ms. McNalty was a cousin of Honor McHale.

According to information passed down in our family, Bridget McHale Quinn was the sister of Honor McHale, my greatgrandmother.  Bridget was known as
Auntie Quinn. The Quinn family lived on Spring Street in Avoca PA. Bridget died April 26, 1932 and was buried at St. Mary's in Avoca on April 29, 1932.

According to Bridget's death certificate, which was signed by her son Thomas Quinn, her parents were Thomas McHale and Bridget McHale.  I have not yet identified the family in Addergoole parish. There were no McHale's in Cuilkillew but they could have lived in one of the other townlands that all used the same church in Lahardaun, St. Patrick's.

Bridget married James Quinn of Cuilnakillew, County Mayo while still living in Ireland. Bridget and James and their children moved to Avoca, Luzerne County, PA, USA.  Cuilkillew is a small townland in Addergoole Parish along the shores of Lough Conn outside of Lahardane.
